Where It All Started
Our story begins on the Southport waterfront over 50 years ago, with the man, the myth, the legend - Charlie Perry. His deep-rooted connection to the water brought him here in the early 80's. You are probably familiar with the American Fish Company bar in downtown Southport on the waterfront. Ever wondered where it got it's name? Before it was the bar everyone loves so much, it belonged to our family. Charlie bought it in the early 80s and it was THE original American Fish Company - a productive and lively commercial fish house once surrounded by commercial fishing boats in the slips wrapping around the fish house and flowing into the Yacht Basin. Yep, Southport was once a serious hub for commercial fishing. Now, there are only a few commercial fisherfolk still in the business. And, fun fact - parts of the current structure of the American Fish Company bar still include elements of our original fish house, a quiet tribute to our beginnings and a reminder of how far we’ve come.
From Fishing to Building the Coastline
As the commercial fishing industry started to change, like the tides, we had to go with the flow. We transitioned from commercial fishing to marine construction, recognizing a growing need for trusted, high-quality waterfront solutions in Brunswick County. What started with fishing boats evolved into building docks, seawalls, boat lifts, and more, but always with the same work ethic and deep respect for these waters that surround us. We are who we are because of these waters - river, waterway, and ocean.​

Our New Home on the Intracoastal Waterway
In the early 2000's, we relocated to our current location on the Intracoastal Waterway, under the Oak Island bridge, now lovingly referred to as the 'the old bridge'. We opened a fully independent and full service boatyard. Conveniently accessible on the waterway with a deep water slip and a travel lift for haul outs, we are proud to keep our services affordable so it can continue to be a cornerstone supporting the local marine community.

Today, we’re proud to be Brunswick County’s first marine construction company, serving our community with integrity, quality, and the kind of hands-on expertise and friendly family connection that only comes from generations on the water and being connected to the water.
